the day began perfectly : a poem

i am alone
happy
thinking of a yoga pose
or a girl
who was so upside down
she flipped my world
and asked me to pretend
it was normal
this blood rushing to the head
feeling
toes waving high above us
she stayed
i moved along
still mixed up
on this breaking spring morning
drinking the first sip of coffee
and the way her back looked
lying beside me
when we were on our sides
before, during, and after sleep
she had this smile
this way
a laugh
with coconut oil on her lips
and in my coffee
this morning
i cannot get her
out
or right-side-up
